ReUnion – CS 1.6 server (GoldSrc) Non-Steam + Steam protocol

ReUnion is a Metamod plugin that enables both Steam and non‑Steam clients using protocols 47 and 48 to connect to ReHLDS servers. It is the modern continuation of the legacy DProto project (GitHub, GitHub, forum.ws-gaming.eu).

✅ Latest Version: 0.2.0.27 (April 13, 2025)

  • A 0.2.0.27 release focused on SteamID generation fixes for client builds above 4554 (GitHub, laleagane.ro).
  • Just before that, 0.2.0.26 (also April 13, 2025) introduced a fix for SteamID generation on clients 4554 (laleagane.ro).

This supersedes 0.2.0.25 (March 27, 2025), which addressed several important issues:

  • Corrected the SteamID salt logic for reunion2015 auth versions.
  • Added option to disable salt for SteamIDs hashing for AuthVersion ≥ 2018 (enabled by default).
  • Fixed default setting for the query limiter.
  • Disabled caching of g_ISteamGameServer to prevent instance reassign issues after map change (GitHub).

🔧 Key Features

  • Protocol Compatibility with both protocol 47 and 48 clients.
  • AuthID Emulation: Assigns authentication IDs (e.g. STEAM_ or VALVE_) based on client hardware or IP, configurable per protocol version.
  • Flexible Configuration: Customize allowed AuthID types, prefixes, salts, and query-limiter behavior.
  • Continually improved hashing logic and SteamID collision handling as of AuthVersion ≥ 3 (introduced in v0.2.0.13) (laleagane.ro, GitHub).

🛠 System Requirements

  • ReHLDS API version ≥ 3.10.
  • MetaMod 1.20(p) or newer (pub.norden.org).

Installation Steps (Current Best Practices)

Installation remains largely the same with some emphasis on version compliance:

  1. Create addons/reunion/ folder within your game directory (e.g. cstrike/) (laleagane.ro).
  2. Place the plugin binary into that folder:
    • Windows: reunion_mm.dll
    • Linux: reunion_mm_i386.so
  3. Edit addons/metamod/plugins.ini, adding at the top: win32 addons\reunion\reunion_mm.dll (Windows) linux addons/reunion/reunion_mm_i386.so (Linux)
  4. Copy reunion.cfg to your server root or game directory.
  5. Restart the server and run meta list in console to confirm ReUnion is loaded and running.

⚠️ Important: When upgrading from version 0.2.0.13 or older, ensure you also update your reunion.cfg to reflect changes in SteamID salt handling, query limiter defaults, and AuthVersion behavior (GitHub).

✅ Updated Article (Revised)

ReUnion 0.2.0.27 for cs 1.6 is the most recent release (April 13, 2025) of the Metamod plugin for Counter-Strike 1.6 and ReHLDS servers. It succeeds version 0.2.0.25 (March 27, 2025) and resolves key issues with SteamID generation for newer clients.

ReUnion extends DProto’s legacy protocol support, enabling both protocol 47 (VALVE_) and protocol 48 (STEAM_) clients to connect, with flexible AuthID emulation based on hardware or IP.

Requirements:

  • ReHLDS API ≥ 3.10
  • MetaMod 1.20(p) or later

New in 0.2.0.27:

  • Fix for SteamID generation on clients newer than build 4554

Install:

  1. Make addons/reunion/ in your game folder.
  2. Upload binary (.dll or .so) accordingly.
  3. Add plugin path at top of plugins.ini.
  4. Copy updated reunion.cfg (make sure to align with version).
  5. Restart and verify via meta list.

As of v0.2.0.25, config changes are necessary for correct hashing, query limiter defaults, and to prevent SteamID duplications.

Keeping ReUnion up‑to‑date ensures maximum compatibility, stability, and security for both Steam and non‑Steam players on ReHLDS servers.

Although, you can also use our CS 1.6 download to experience your server addon updates and etc. In this case you’ll just understand that you did everything correctly and your non-steam emulation has just become working.
